Why is the signature “Elsa”, not “Elsie”?
When Elsie first started making jewelry, Louis came up with the name “Elsaramics” for her work. However this name was too long to go on the stones to mark them, so Elsie shortened it to “Elsa”. Her work became so well known with the “Elsa” name that in later years she also signed some of her paintings “Elsa”.
